One, Two, Three, Party!

For someone who enjoys going out, there’s no better feeling than waking up the morning after, thinking, “Wow, last night was FUN!” In most cases, a mild or pretty bad hangover may accompany this, or you may not remember half the night, but let’s just focus on the good stuff…
What does a memorable night out consist of anyway? I believe the bar, the music and the company are very important; however, the primary goal should be to make it fun!
When going out, the majority of people already have a club or bar in mind. Whether they prefer the 18+ clubs, dancing, leather or just a laid back bar where it’s easier to meet and talk to people, Long Beach is the place to be.
The music usually comes with the venue one decides to go. Some people go to leather bars because they prefer alternative/rock music instead of Lady Gaga and Britney. Some people attend circuit parties because they enjoy dance/electronic sounds. While others prefer the popular top 40 club where a little bit of everything gets played.
While some people enjoy going out by themselves and have a great time doing it, most of us prefer to go out with a friend or a group of friends. Surrounding yourself with positive, energetic people who won’t be a buzz-kill or bring drama to the night (unless you’re into that) is usually the way to go. Going out with friends creates good memories and opens the door for adventures, especially when drinks are involved with so many women/men around.
Now let’s be honest and accept that a lot of times, even when we don’t realize we’re doing it, we go out with the intention of meeting someone. Whether it is for fun, friends, a potential date or even maybe a little attention. If you’re single, why not kill to two birds with one stone? Have fun with friends and keep an eye out for that someone, after all, you never know who you’re going to meet, right? For people in a relationship, it is a bit different because meeting someone is not really a goal (although it is for some) and would rather just have a fun night. Nonetheless, a little attention from an attractive stranger is flattering to one’s ego; whether you act on it or not is all up to you!
Recently, I had one of those crazy fun nights. It was a Friday night and I knew I wanted to have a boys’ night out here in Long Beach. I called up my friends and we agreed to meet at the Silver Fox for a couple of drinks. After chit-chatting while watching music videos, we decided to continue our night. Our next stop was the Broadway crawl; we were feeling ambitious that night so we covered a lot of the bars there. The Brit and Mineshaft were first in line; these two bars are somewhat similar and remind me of a mild version of The Eagle in LA.
While at the Brit, we noticed a hot daddy staring at our group, especially at one of my friends. At first we were a little weirded out by this guy; even though he was hot, the fact he just looked at us from afar was a little creepy (if you’re going to stare at someone for more than five minutes, just say “hi”). Thankfully he grew some cojones and decided to say hi. He actually turned out to be a pretty cool guy and ended up hanging out with us for a bit and even bought us a round of drinks (Did I mention he was hot? LOL).
By the end of our little daddy adventure, we were feeling pretty good. We were getting a little loud, cracking jokes and just being silly with each other, and most of all, we were getting happy-feet. We wanted to dance! On Friday nights our options to dance are Boys Room at The Executive Suites, The Falcon and Boy Bar at Hamburger Mary’s. Since we were already on Broadway we decided to keep partying there, so we opted to go to The Falcon.
Although the Falcon is relatively small, this bar-turned-mini-club has become one of Long Beach’s hottest spots. I believe the main attraction is the music and cheap drinks. The DJ plays a nice variety of music (alternative indie, pop, hip hop and dance), always keeping it up-tempo with great energy and good transitions from song to song (this is how I rate my DJs besides their choice of music), keeping the dance floor filled.
This night was not the exception. The place was packed and the music was going. Right away we headed towards the bar for a round of shots followed by some dancing and more drinks. This is definitely where things were taken to the next level. After three more rounds of drinks (or at least from what I remember), shirtless dancing, taking pictures, meeting more friends and a little flirting, we decided to call it a night (actually, we closed the bar). The next morning I woke up with a dry mouth, a headache and $60 less, but all I kept thinking was, “Wow, last night was a blast!”
