Locations, Ambiance & More

My favorite restaurants are all based on different reasons. I always take a look at the many aspects that make a restaurant. I have found that the food doesn’t necessarily have to be the key ingredient to making a restaurant successful. Location, ambiance, entertainment, pricing, service, etc. always play a part in making a restaurant successful.

Here is a list of some of my favorite restaurants I like depending on all of the aforementioned reasons.

The Coffee Cup: This place is amazing for breakfast. I especially love going there for brunch on Sundays. The food is delicious; it’s prepared fast and is very inexpensive. Service has always been outstanding there. If you haven’t gone there, I definitely recommend it.

Tantalum: This place has such a lively, romantic ambiance. It’s chic but not too posh. I love the bar setup here and love the fact that a flower is placed in the cocktails, which gives it a very nice touch. Dinner here is always great; you can’t go wrong with Asian food with an American twist. The best way to explain this place is to say it is a casual restaurant with a fine dining touch.

Open Sesame: Feel like having flavorful food? Open Sesame is the place! Every dish I have tried at this Mediterranean restaurant has been outstanding. Every bite is like an explosion of spices and flavors. The food is exceptional! Never have I had something there I didn’t like, and I think most would agree with me. Waits on the weekends are extremely long, but no doubt worth the wait.

Alegria: The food here is delicious and the décor makes this place lively and unique. The one thing that really keeps me coming back is the fact that I can enjoy my meal while listening to a live band playing or watching the flamenco dancers dance their hearts out. Sipping on their homemade sangria while enjoying the entertainment is one of my favorite things to do. Ole!

La Palapa: This place has to be on my list because I have enjoyed many a summer days and nights there. Eating and drinking on the patio, enjoying the summer rays, the view of the beach and people watching put this place in an ideal location, which is the main reason I go there often. Aside from that, this is the one place where I can take my dog on the patio with me. After enjoying a nice meal, I can enjoy a walk on the beach with my pooch.

George’s Greek Café: YUM! The food here is so scrumptious! The service at George’s is just as good. You can usually find the owner at the Pine Ave. location waiting at the door to greet you with a warm smile and a handshake…maybe a hug if you choose to do so. The servers are always on top of everything, not to mention inviting and helpful. Man, I love this place.

Those are some of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach. The list does keep on going, but I think I can stop there. As you can see, all the restaurants mentioned above are very different. This is a great example of how diverse Long Beach is when it comes to DiningOUT. There is something for everybody. Best of all is that all of these restaurants are friendly to the gay community.
